So where will cell phones go after the recent unveiling of the iPhone 4. The last time apple released something to the world, the market was flooded with full touch screen devices which have been competing against the iPhone 3G till now.
The cell phone race wars have begun with apple working on its prototype processors that deliver speeds of up to 1 GHz and so is HTC and Motorola coming up with 1 GHz cell phones. And Motorola has plans for unveiling the industry first 2 GHz processor cell phone. Slowly the gap between a PC and cell phone will disintegrate and it will be had to differentiate between the two. The process of stuffing as many network technologies in a cell phone is already begun and the network speed will touch multi mega bits per second. Handsets will be fitted with all the technology that is possible to be fitted on a portable device such as a gyroscope, compass, e-payment support and anything unnecessary. The mobile cameras are slowly catching up to the digital cameras and will slowly replace than with the same image processing power as the professional digital cameras. The phone designers are coming up with new prototypes constantly like the split screen mobile phone which can be separated into two parts and phones with transparent and flexible screens.

The much awaited iPhone 4 is being shipped out to customers finally and a few customers received the handsets a little much earlier than the intended date. SO here is my review of the handset.

The handsets outer hardware had had a complete overhaul and now fits perfectly between the mac book line up in terms of style. It has many outer control buttons are found around the phone like volume control and power. It has a much faster CPU, the same processor found in the iPad, which shows while operating the latest OS 4. It has a RAM of 15GB and comes in 16GB and 32GB memory sizes. In the areas of connectivity it has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 4-band HSU-PA chip. But the part you all are going to really like in this phone is the new “retina display” that has a resolution of 960×640 IPS at the same size as the older iPhone screen at 3.2 inches. The phone has a better 5 megapixel camera that takes stunning pictures and even has a LED flash for taking pictures in low light conditions. Even the 720p video capture is pleasing enough and on par with the best 720p cameras out in the market right now. And yeah did I mention that this phone also allows multitasking or something like that atleast.

The Kyocera loft S2300 is a Blackberry styled phone from Kyocera for Virgin mobile customers. It is a phone designed while keeping constant messaging customers. It is unlike any older phone models from Kyocera and is completely out of place in the stylish Virgin line up. But to say it is bad looking would be not right since this phone looks right and fits in a completely different category of looks. This phone has a QWERTY keyboard that is very comfortable for people with little fingers.
This phone come with a 2.2 inch display with a better resolution than most of its older phones. The phone sports a 2.5mm audio jack which is a little problem considering the little number of good quality 2.5mm headphones available in the market. Messaging is the most important feature of this phone and features instant messaging services from Gtalk, ALO and Live. This phone has a mediocre 1.3 megapixel camera and is quite good for a camera with those little pixels. The phone call clarity was not checked since there was no connection but the loud speaker fares well. The phone also has a Opera browser which will suffice little browsing needs.

Even thou Samsung is not new into the environmentally friendly phone market, this is their newest venture into this market. This phone is basically a sequel to their pervious eco friendly phone Reclaim. This phone is made out of recycled materials and almost 77 % of these phones materials are recyclable.
But besides its eco conscious factor all other factors in this phone are just average and point to the fact that it is an average messaging phone. It has a slide out QWERTY keyboard along with a normal numerical keyboard in the front. It has a 2.4 inch QVGA screen and has good built quality. It has a 2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth which is compatible with wireless stereo, music player, GPS. The phone like all the previous Samsung phones is a feature rich phone with small additions to the operating system that make the experience better for the user. The GPS supports sprint navigation and is pretty useful. It also has EV-DO facility which supports broadband services like Radio, movie and TV from Sprint. The camera is 2 megapixels and take bad and blurry images. The various social network applications like sprint album, facebook, myspace, youtube, photobucket and flickr are very useful and make the phone a worthy networking device.

LG Remarq is LG’s foray into the environmentally friendly market. This handset is made from 19 % recycled plastic and almost 87% of the handsets materials are recyclable after use. The handset comes in a recyclable packaging also, making a little bit more eco friendlier.
LG Remarq is a cute little handset with good built quality and a cubby design with a QWERTY keyboard. It is a decent messaging phone with a good speed operating system and all the features needed in a mid range mobile phone. There is a 2.2 inch display with 220 x 176 pixels. The phone is designed keeping the social network connected individual in mind. It has access to facebook, myspace, twitter and few other social networking sites. This phone has something called Eco Calculator that helps to measure a person’s carbon footprint by giving estimates of CO2 saved by cycling or walking instead of driving or by planting a tree. The built in browser is average and can be used to check emails in POP and IMAP server. It supports memory card up to 16GB in microSD card. The 1.3 MP camera take bad quality images which are blurry and washed out even in the highest resolution and the best lighting conditions.

Blackberry’s venture into touch screen phone with Storm one was not taken well by users and critics alike because of its shortfalls on many accounts like peformane, bugs and hardware issues. But Blackberry has come back with a new touch screen phone that attempts to cover many of the previous models shortfalls and tries to make for itself the space which it lost by releasing the storm 1.
The newest storm comes with a wi-fi which was missing in the first storm. It has a revamped operating system that feels the same as the one before but realizes the mistakes it has made. The newer touch screen phone’s screen is more pressure sensitive and is optimized for soft touch gestures but still has limited multi touch capabilities. Looks wise it is same as its predecessor, with little modifications here and there. The typing capabilities of this phone are increased with the SurePress sensitive screen. The screen has a resolution of 480×360 with is below par than the other handsets found in smart phones nowadays. It has other features such as Bluetooth, GPS and microSD expansion slot. The multimedia supports a huge number of files format and the multimedia capabilities are revamped from the older set. The Samsung executive is for those customers who are regular Samsung users but need something as convenient as a Blackberry to use for business mailing, but are not big fans of Blackberry’s. This phone has a easy to use QWERTY keyboard with excellent e-mail support. These phones will be on the U.S. Cellular carrier, which does not have any more competition. It has a 2.4 inch QVGA screen. It runs on the windows mobile 6.5 Standard edition operating system with improved browser and a better back up service. It has all the other features associated with windows mobile phones like a Microsoft office suite, bing search, MSN money, PDF viewer, Voice recorder, and other such things.
The Samsung Executive has most of the hardware features associated with Smartphone’s like Bluetooth, GPS, audio video remote control. This phone lacks Wi-Fi but at this cost, it is highly worth the money that one pays. There is a 2 mega pixel camera that takes mediocre pictures and blurry videos. The images are quite clear and colors are very vibrant. This phone is perfect for individuals with high e-mailing needs at low cost.
