When the phone was first invented, the idea was to talk with your friends who are far away. Nowadays, we have cellphones who help us do that, but it seems like we always want more. You can surf the internet, take photos and videos, listen to music and many other stuff. Still this is not enough to fulfill our demands, we really need more if we can afford it.

Thomas Heyerdahl is the man who took 112 authentic diamonds and integrated them into a Nokia 8800 for the joy of rich people. The diamonds will take Nokia’s 8800 price to a total of $5,933.

The retro style comes into technology, and it is brought back by the biggest cellphones company in the world: Nokia released photos of the new Nokia Maps 2.0 system, and, aside the technical improvements, its design reminds of the old days.

The system exceeds previous Nokia 2008 smartphones GPS, offering new features such as traffic data, satellite view, and a retooled UI. Also, one of the most interesting novelties is integration of the pedestrian mode, which enables you to use it while simply walking through the city. Other worth-mentioning capabilities are the voice guided car navigation and city guides.

Researchers from Nokia Research Center and the University of Cambridge, U.K., presented at the Museum of Modern Art a nanotechnology concept which shows that the cell phones of the future will be very flexible. This technology will give users the possibility to change the shape of the mobile phone.

According to Bob Iannucci, Chief Technology Officer at Nokia, The Morph, as it’s called, demonstrates the fact that anything is possible in the world of mobile devices. They wanted to create a product which combines art and science in order to be useful for all buyers.

Even though this technology seems to be very far, Nokia hopes to make the first steps of the nanotechnology within seven years. We are very excited by this prospect and we hope that one day this will be available for everyone.

It’s been such a long time that we almost forgot about Nokia. Reports based on a photo appeared in Best Buy’s February Mobile Buyer’s Guide say that the Finnish manufacturer is going to release the N830 Internet Tablet. It looks like the new version will feature WiMAX and it will make its appearence at CTIA.I know that Nokia has many fans and at CTIA they should be awarded for their support.

Nokia’s third Prism phone is now official and it’s design is even funkier than the last models. It’s called 7900 Crystal Prism and it features WCDMA 2100/850, along with the quad-band GSM, a 2-inch OLED display, 1GB of internal memory, and a 2-megapixel camera. It has been designed by Frédérique Daubal and should get in stores this quarter, for the price of EUR 375.

Looks like Nokia will finally fix the problem regarding N-Gage applications. Next week they will launch for N81 or N81 8GB, demo versions of N-Gage First Access setup. It’s a step forward, even though this isn’t a full version of Nokia’s service, because of their previous failures. It’s a good thing they waited until now and we hope that this time they will succeed in providing good N-Gage applications.

Although we knew that the 3G Nokia 6263 handset is on its way, Nokia has just released it. This phone is almost identical to the 6267, as expected. One difference between them is that the 6263 has a camera of 1.3 megapixels while the 6267 has a camera of 2 megapixels. The Nokia 6263 features 2.2-inch QVGA display, microSD card slot, Bluetooth, music player and internet. If you want one you could go and buy one from T-Mobile.
