Droid X is the latest incarnation of the Droid series from Motorola. It is a phone with many improvements over the original Droid. The phone has a 4.3 inch captive touch screen with multi-touch. The phones user interface has seen an improvement over the older Droid which I guess is the reason for the phone being a bit sluggish in response. It has an 8 mega pixel camera with HD video capture without any front facing camera. It comes with a HDMI and DLNA support but sadly no 4G support.

The phone has the good build quality associated with Motorola devices and fits into the bigger android phones category. It is very light considering the large size and fits perfectly in to tight jeans pockets. Has a little camera bump on the back which is not that much of a problem. There is no QQWERTY keyboard as the original droid but has a virtual onscreen keyboard and the latest Swype typing software already in-built. You also get a 16GB micro SD card which is very considerate of Motorola to give free with the phone. The phone comes with a 2.1 android built, with a promise of a 2.2 froyo release later this year which is going to heat things a little bit.

Blackberry’s venture into touch screen phone with Storm one was not taken well by users and critics alike because of its shortfalls on many accounts like peformane, bugs and hardware issues. But Blackberry has come back with a new touch screen phone that attempts to cover many of the previous models shortfalls and tries to make for itself the space which it lost by releasing the storm 1.
The newest storm comes with a wi-fi which was missing in the first storm. It has a revamped operating system that feels the same as the one before but realizes the mistakes it has made. The newer touch screen phone’s screen is more pressure sensitive and is optimized for soft touch gestures but still has limited multi touch capabilities. Looks wise it is same as its predecessor, with little modifications here and there. The typing capabilities of this phone are increased with the SurePress sensitive screen. The screen has a resolution of 480×360 with is below par than the other handsets found in smart phones nowadays. It has other features such as Bluetooth, GPS and microSD expansion slot. The multimedia supports a huge number of files format and the multimedia capabilities are revamped from the older set. The Samsung executive is for those customers who are regular Samsung users but need something as convenient as a Blackberry to use for business mailing, but are not big fans of Blackberry’s. This phone has a easy to use QWERTY keyboard with excellent e-mail support. These phones will be on the U.S. Cellular carrier, which does not have any more competition. It has a 2.4 inch QVGA screen. It runs on the windows mobile 6.5 Standard edition operating system with improved browser and a better back up service. It has all the other features associated with windows mobile phones like a Microsoft office suite, bing search, MSN money, PDF viewer, Voice recorder, and other such things.
The Samsung Executive has most of the hardware features associated with Smartphone’s like Bluetooth, GPS, audio video remote control. This phone lacks Wi-Fi but at this cost, it is highly worth the money that one pays. There is a 2 mega pixel camera that takes mediocre pictures and blurry videos. The images are quite clear and colors are very vibrant. This phone is perfect for individuals with high e-mailing needs at low cost.

After churning out some of the industry standard defining handsets, HTC has taken rather a step back with this one. This is an entry level handset hat is designed for people who are not sure of they really need a smart phone.
This phone runs on Android 1.6 with sense user interface from HTC. This phone ha almost same dimensions as a HTC Touch with a 2.8 inch screen. It comes with the option of custom designing the cover to make it more unique. You will have to sacrifice here on resolution of the screen with a 240×320 QVGA res captive display. Using the keyboard on this screen is very difficult since the small screen space is not suitable for typing fast messages accurately.
This phone ahs all the feature of a smart phone with a Bluetooth, wi-fi, 3G, internet browser and a fast processor. It has a 1,100 mAh lithium ion battery that gives a talk time of 6 hours and a 14 day stand by time. The 3.2 mega pixel camera is fairly decent in the normal light but has some issues with the edges getting blurred.
Thou this phone is not intended to be a competition for phones such as Droid and nexus one, it is a fairly decent smart phone if the price is right.

There are two major types of mobile phone plans available today: prepaid cell phones for which you purchase minutes as you need them, and phones tied to yearly contracts that require you to pay a monthly bill. Each type of phone has its advantages and disadvantages, all of which you should consider before deciding what phone is right for you. Here are the pros and cons of choosing a phone with a contract.

 Pros

They’re convenient. When you sign a contract, you don’t have to worry about your phone shutting down when you’re out of minutes and not being able to get more until you have time to purchase them. You can simply set up automatic payment and pay for your phone with little to no effort.

They offer more accessories and apps. Going with a phone that has a contract is an easier way to take advantage of all the technologies today’s phones have to offer, like e-mail, web browsing and texting.

They allow you to build credit. Like any bill you pay regularly, building a good payment history with your cell phone company can help boost your credit score.

 Cons

They’re expensive. The convenience of a contract phone comes at a price. Depending on the plan you choose, they could cost $100 per month or more. And if you decide you want to switch companies before your contract is out, you’ll be charged a fee.

They require good credit standing. If you have poor credit, you may not be able to get a contract phone, as most companies have a credit requirement you must meed before signing a contract.

They require you to pay on a regular, whether or not you’ve used everything you pay for. Unlike a prepaid cell phone that allows you to pay on your own schedule, contract phones require you to pay when the bill is due, even if you haven’t used all your monthly minutes or texts yet.

When you look at the cell phone world, you will not hear too much about Sanyo which is quite a lightweight player. People who write cell phone reviews sometimes accuse it of being a bit of a wallflower in this respect. Sanyo as this cell phone review will tell you, has always had a few and selective launches and all of these have come in with Sprint Nextel only. The newest handset launched by the company is the Sanyo SCP-3810 which has quite a solid and functional design which comes along with acceptable performance. Like most Sanyo cell phone models, it comes in just 2 colors and is good to make calls with. But if you need advanced features, the phone is not the one for you.You may read any cell phone review, but most reviewers are unanimous that the SCP-3810 is a simple, functional piece that has a rather boxy profile but comes with sharp display. It is also easy to use and navigation controls that are quite easy to use, which are all typical Sanyo cell phone characteristics. The colors are black onyx and real red, which by themselves are attractive, though you may have wished for a wider range of colors. Boxing people in to prefer one of just two colors is a logic that beats most people!

Phones change and handsets get altered every now and then. The market for mobile phones and allied services seems to be changing the very landscape of mobile telephony. Take for instance messaging phones that have become all the rage, as people like to use the QWERTY keyboards to quickly message across office, friends, lovers, family and who have you? After all, we live in the jet age, and people do not have either the time or the patience to bother fumbling for keys on the keyboard and having to type and re-type words before messages are sent across. People would much rather prefer messaging phones with miniature keyboards that are smaller replicas of the larger computer keyboards.Another thing about messaging phones is that they straddle the gap between the low cost basic phones and the high end costly smartphones. After all, people may not want the higher end wi-fi phones which cost a bomb, but their text needs cannot also be met by the basic phones without the QWERTY keyboard. But there is a trend where some of the phones do have GPS as well as other features that are present in smartphones. It now seems as if some carriers want to cash in on the popularity of messaging phones and start charging for some of the services on offer where there may be an overlap between the messaging phones and smartphones.
