From the title, you may expect some super-features on its technical side, but let me lower your expectations from the beginning: it is called the ‘Super Phone’ just because of its size. Designer Tamer Koseli just broke the prejudice about cell phones, that they all should be of a small size, or at least small enough to fit your pocket.

The only feature that might be the same to a super phone is its two touchscreens (yes, two). Aside that, it is 2cm wide, 14cm long and 0.5 cm deep. At this size, you can use it as a bat if a burglar breaks into your house…

Currently MacBook Air is disposing of one of the best trackpad, but Apple wants more. Reports say that Apple will upgrade the basic Multitouch and the upgrade will consist of properties like “Advanced”, touch apps, file management and navigation - you will use only two fingers to cut, copy and paste. Apple is trying to find easier ways to control your iPhone or MacBook, we don’t now. Another strange thing is the “side pinky swipe” which seems to be a control panel. I don’t know if anybody can predict what Apple is going to do, but there is a truth in every rumor.

Ricardo Baiao has unveiled a concept cell phone that uses green technologies to recharge and has a stunning design. The Atlas Kinetic cell phone is made of glass and aluminum and it’s power comes from kinetic energy. It doesn’t have multimedia features, but only the basic ones that all cellphones need and anytime it runs out of power, you only need to give it some upside down turns and it will start. With the Atlas Kinetic you have one worry less, the batteries.

At the Mobile World Congress 2008 in Barcelona, Spain, Motorola came with solutions in the development of alternative power for cell phones. The technologies displayed during Mobile World Congress include fuel cells and reflow batteries for wireless, high speed broadband including HSxPA and WiMAX environments.

According to Fred Wright, senior vice-president of Cellular Networks and WiMAX at Motorola Home & Networks Mobility, Motorola’s solar and wind powered cell site trials in UK and Namibia were a huge success therefore they will keep on developing alternative power sources and technologies to satisfy the demands of the market in need of power solutions.

Also, Wright states that Motorola offers solutions for all operators indifferent of the technology they use and that they supply practical and viable from a commercially point of view. He is backed by the fact that Flow Battery is a better substitute for conventional batteries which are a more cost effective and have low carbon footprint.

The story doesn’t end here - Motorola claims that they have the answer in fuel cells and reflow batteries for TETRA radio networks used in public-safety environments. If it were to believe them, the technology can be user in every part of the world. Now, we wait to see more news and information.

This Led cellphone concept from Tao Mao seems to be one of the most simplest but cutest cellphones, in Apple’s style. While it doesn’t have advanced functions, using LED for literally everything, not only for design or back-lightnin, as other cellphones. Also, it doesn’t quite feature a display, because everything it needs to indicate it’s done by LED, but it features contacts, calling, SMS and even games.

It’s keypad is touch sensitive and it’s only powered by two AAA batteries. One great function of it is that it’s batteries recharge if plugged into a PC using the USB interface. The cellphone comes with a cute dock, that indicates battery, also with LEDs.

Advertisers have found a new way to promote their products. Bluepod Media signed contracts with 8 soccer clubs for installing 15 Bluetooth units within the stadiums. The fans can receive informations about their favourite club, including fixtures and profiles, but in the messages will be inserted adverts. Until now, the company have associated with 8 soccer clubs including Portsmouth, Blackburn Rovers, West Ham and Celtic. The fans seemed to reacted very well, around 6,000 out of 20,000 Portsmouth fans responded to this new service.

Last week at CES in Las Vegas, Angstrom Power, a Canadian company, presented their last research in the hydrogen-powered cell phones. According to them, these batteries last two times longer than cell phones powered with lithium ion and you can refuel them in 10 minutes. The batteries fit easily inside the handset. Although at CES the cells were displayed within the MOTOSLVR L7 they announced that they hope to start shipping in early 2010.

The company that released Infobar 2 has now introduced another high resolution widescreen cellphone in Japan, the W61SH. Au is the company we are talking about and the cellphone is manufactured by Sharp. It will come in white, dark and hot pink, feature a 2.8-inch Acquos 240×400 display, with a 2,000:1 contrast, as the company states.

Sony Ericsson wants to take hand watches to the next level. They made a drawing for a watch with  LCD. In theory, when you want to look at a picture or see a mini-movie the “LCD hands” will disappear. We don’t really understand what is the purpose of this mechanism, but probably they know better if they are spending time in this area of development.
