Droid X is the latest incarnation of the Droid series from Motorola. It is a phone with many improvements over the original Droid. The phone has a 4.3 inch captive touch screen with multi-touch. The phones user interface has seen an improvement over the older Droid which I guess is the reason for the phone being a bit sluggish in response. It has an 8 mega pixel camera with HD video capture without any front facing camera. It comes with a HDMI and DLNA support but sadly no 4G support.

The phone has the good build quality associated with Motorola devices and fits into the bigger android phones category. It is very light considering the large size and fits perfectly in to tight jeans pockets. Has a little camera bump on the back which is not that much of a problem. There is no QQWERTY keyboard as the original droid but has a virtual onscreen keyboard and the latest Swype typing software already in-built. You also get a 16GB micro SD card which is very considerate of Motorola to give free with the phone. The phone comes with a 2.1 android built, with a promise of a 2.2 froyo release later this year which is going to heat things a little bit.

Microsoft not a very long while back released the two social networking phones with a windows 7 themed operating system. These phones were targeted at 20 something’s and teens who feel the need to stay connected all the time. Sadly now Microsoft has decided to pull the plug on these two phones and merge this division into mobile windows 7’s direction. This decision was taken just a few weeks after the launch of these two phones saw little sales and the migration of Andy Lees to the Windows Phone 7 development section. It most probably will be followed by a large number of pink slips who were working on the pink phone. Hence the supposed launch of the phone in Europe this fall is scrapped and eventually to the rest of the world.

The phones were forced to launch before their complete development and were filled with shortcoming. And the data plan charges were too high for the demographic it was targeting, hence it never took off. And the absence of a dedicated application store along with no release of developer package had to see the phones to the grave.

If you have someone special in your life who seems endlessly fascinated by astronomy, aliens and , there are plenty of fancy gadgets and doodads they would love to find in their stocking Christmas morning. Here are a few.

 Lost Season 5 on Blu-Ray: Chances are, if he’s a techie geek, he’s got a PS3 or a Blu-Ray player. Price: $199.95.

Sonnet Atomic Digital Alarm Clock: While it may look like the face of an oversized digital watch that you could hang on your wall, it has a secret, deeply geeky foundation. They’re fun to peruse on planes, mainly because of their out of this world absurdities. Yes, Skymall, the catalogs found on airplanes that are filled with surprisingly expensive, odd little gadgets that you never knew you never needed. Here are some of the most eye-popping selections.

Box of Applause of Laughter: Who says human interaction is important? Not Skymall! Open the box and you’ll be greeted with either riotous applause or sitcom-style guffaws. So if you’re desperately, desperately lonely, you can imagine that people enjoy your company with this rather sad device. Price: $24.95.

: Do you ever look at a clock or watch and say to yourself, “I don’t care what time it is, I’ve just completely forgotten the day of the week?” After all, why look at a newspaper, a clock, a TV, a computer or a cell phone when you can pay for a device that displays the day, and nothing else, for you? Price: $39.98.

Solar Address Marker: Not a bad idea in theory. A sign with your address collects power during the day and stays lit at night so visitors can easily find your house. Except, as the sole (negative) product review states, “It actually starts flashing on and off after a few hours. I leave the sign turned off because my neighbors made fun of the flashing numbers sign.” Maybe a box of applause could cheer him up? Price: $44.99.

Black Leather Paper Clip Holder: Make sure all your employees hate you by showing them that, even in the worst recession of the century, you have money to burn on such useless items as a top of the line paper clip holder. True, it does the job that could be done by an ashtray or an empty shotglass, but may as well go all out, right? Price: $29.

The cell phone review has had some opportunities of reviewing cell phone handsets from the Pantech stable. This company was very well known for dual slider handset which came in along with the Helio Ocean, which is able to slide to the side to reveal what is a number keypad and also a QWERTY keyboard, which makes it quite easy to use and also extremely convenient. There are a number of other models that Pantech has revealed in the meanwhile, which are able to bring a world of convenience and a wide range to the cell phone world. With the Pantech Reveal however, it is quite possible that you have a new set of features as well as a design that has not been seen before in the world of messaging phones.

With the Pantech Reveal you get a phone that looks like a simple candy bar phone, but if you slide it vertically up, you will be able to see revealed a fully QWERTY keyboard which is below the normal or regular number pad. This is quite a new design that can delight a number of users of this phone. In addition to this you also have 1.3 MP camera, music player and at a price of $79 along with 2 year service from AT&T agreement, the price is also quite reasonable.

At the cell phone review we do not come across too many examples of phones from Doro, as the company has not really caught on and does not have too many pieces brought out by it. The company is Swedish and it gives serious competition to the Samsung Jitterbug J which was one of the most suitable phones suited for senior folks. This was due to the ease of operation and a number of operator services that existed in the phones. But the Jitterbug was as much as $147 in cost and that too paid up upfront, which is why Doro has come up with PhoneEasy, which as the name indicates, is easy to use and also own. The PhoneEasy 410 comes in a special clamshell design.

The Doro PhoneEasy 410 has large keys that seniors can easily key in, and also a large display. Even the fonts are large for easier and better viewing by those whose eyesight may not be all that great. The company has added in text messaging, FM radio and also Bluetooth for good measure and at just $50 without any contract, the price sis really great and affordable. All of this makes the PhoneEasy 410 quite great for seniors and others too

When you look at the cell phone world, you will not hear too much about Sanyo which is quite a lightweight player. People who write cell phone reviews sometimes accuse it of being a bit of a wallflower in this respect. Sanyo as this cell phone review will tell you, has always had a few and selective launches and all of these have come in with Sprint Nextel only. The newest handset launched by the company is the Sanyo SCP-3810 which has quite a solid and functional design which comes along with acceptable performance. Like most Sanyo cell phone models, it comes in just 2 colors and is good to make calls with. But if you need advanced features, the phone is not the one for you.You may read any cell phone review, but most reviewers are unanimous that the SCP-3810 is a simple, functional piece that has a rather boxy profile but comes with sharp display. It is also easy to use and navigation controls that are quite easy to use, which are all typical Sanyo cell phone characteristics. The colors are black onyx and real red, which by themselves are attractive, though you may have wished for a wider range of colors. Boxing people in to prefer one of just two colors is a logic that beats most people!

Phones change and handsets get altered every now and then. The market for mobile phones and allied services seems to be changing the very landscape of mobile telephony. Take for instance messaging phones that have become all the rage, as people like to use the QWERTY keyboards to quickly message across office, friends, lovers, family and who have you? After all, we live in the jet age, and people do not have either the time or the patience to bother fumbling for keys on the keyboard and having to type and re-type words before messages are sent across. People would much rather prefer messaging phones with miniature keyboards that are smaller replicas of the larger computer keyboards.Another thing about messaging phones is that they straddle the gap between the low cost basic phones and the high end costly smartphones. After all, people may not want the higher end wi-fi phones which cost a bomb, but their text needs cannot also be met by the basic phones without the QWERTY keyboard. But there is a trend where some of the phones do have GPS as well as other features that are present in smartphones. It now seems as if some carriers want to cash in on the popularity of messaging phones and start charging for some of the services on offer where there may be an overlap between the messaging phones and smartphones.
